عمرها 21 عاماً، تعاني من مشاكل صحية، وتم اعتقالها من قبل قوات الامن السورية، وهي في عيادة الطبيب في وسط مدينة عفرين، في السابع عشر من يونيه 2007.
لا يعرف بعد مكان احتجاز الشابة جيهان عمر محمد ولكن يُعتقد ان تكون محتجزة بمعزل عن العالم الخارجي في الحبس الانفرادي ويُخشى ان تتعرض لخطر التعذيب ومزيد من سوء المعاملة، خاصة وهي تواجه مشاكل صحية ومجرد اعتقالها سيؤثر سلبياً على صحتها وسيتأزم وضعها الصحي أكثر وأكثر.
تعتقد منظمة الدفاع الدولية ان الشابة جيهان من سجناء الضمير احتجزت لمجرد تعبيرها السلمي عن معتقداتها وارائها وهذه من حقوقها المشروعة.
وتحث منظمة الدفاع الدولية السلطات بان تتخذ الخطوات وتحقق في التقارير الواردة بان المحتجزين يتعرضون للضرب وغيره من ضروب المعاملة مع تواجد حراس السجن.كما يجب تذكير السلطات بأنها دولة طرف في اتفاقية الامم المتحدة لمناهضة التعذيب التي انضمت اليها سوريا في العام 2004، وبذلك فهي ملزمة بالتحقيق فى التقارير الموثقة بشان منع الشابة جيهان من تلقي العلاج في العيادة الطبية اثناء القاء القبض عليها هناك، فذلك يشكل انتهاكاً لحقوقها كإنسانة. للشابة المريضة جيهان الحق بالاتصال الفوري بمحامي تختاره هي بنفسها ولها الحق ايضاً في اللقاء بأسرتها وبالاخص فمن الضروري التأكيد على تلقيها للعلاج الطبي الذي هي بامس الحاجة اليه.وقد تلقت منظمة الدفاع الدولية انباءاً حول حملات اعتقالات واسعة في مدينة عفرين الواقعة داخل الحدود السورية.
وبحسب ما ورد فلا يزال مصير احد المواطنين مجهولاً وهو يبلغ من العمر خمساً وستون عاماً.الحملة الموصى بها هي إرسال مناشدات بحيث تصل بأسرع وقت ممكن للإعراب عن القلق إزاء اعتقال الشابة المريضة جيهان عمر محمد؛ وللاعراب عن القلق العميق لكونها قد تكون محتجزة في الحبس الانفرادي، حيث يمارس التعذيب بكثرة وفقاً لمقرر الأمم المتحدة الخاص المعني بالتعذيب؛ وتحثون السلطات على ضمان ان الشابة جيهان لن تتعرض للتعذيب او اي نوع من انواع المعاملة السيئة او العقوبة القاسية. علاوة على ذلك فتدعون السلطات للافراج عنها فوراً ودون قيد او شرط الا اذا كانت قد اتهمت بتهمة ما، حينها تطالبونهم بضمان محاكمة عادلة وسريعة؛
كما تشيرون الى ان تُعطى جيهان الفرصة للاتصال بمحامي من اختيارها ولقاء عائلتها والحصول على اي علاج طبي قد تطلبه.ترسل المناشدات إلى فخامة الرئيس بشار الأسد رئيس الجمهورية العربية السورية، والى معالي وزير الداخلية و معالي وزير الدفاع ومعالي وزير العدل. يرجى نسخ الرسائل و من ثم اضافة التوقيع و العنوان الى الرسالة وارسالها على العنوان او رقم الفاكس او البريد الالكتروني المرفق.مع شكر وتقدير وداد عقراوي رئيسة منظمة الدفاع الدولية
